Dr. Onofrietti Magrassi was born and raised in Mexico City, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology and began her career supporting families and students in both educational and clinical settings.
She received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Oregon. During her doctoral training, her research focused on self-regulation, parenting, caregiver mental health, and the intergenerational transmission of trauma, with a particular emphasis on working with Latinx communities. As a bilingual and bicultural scholar, Dr. Onofrietti Magrassi is dedicated to advancing culturally responsive, strengths-based interventions that expand mental health access and promote well-being among underserved populations.
At the Crown Institute, she leads and collaborates on community-partnered research initiatives centered on maternal mental health, peer-led mental health supports, and youth well-being. She contributes to the development, evaluation, and dissemination of accessible, evidence-based programs—including peer-led and school-based models—designed to reduce barriers and improve access to mental health supports.
Prior to joining the Crown Institute, she completed her school psychology pre-doctoral internship in Springfield Public Schools, where she worked in close partnership with bilingual students, families, and school staff.
