Dahn Bi Chong

The Things We Do
Chong in her daily life loves dancing and doodling and did her best here to incorporate both of those loves into a piece that accurately and colorfully represents her experience with dancing. If the piece seems strangely chaotic, good, Chong really took the excitement of dancing and doodling to a new level by turning on her favorite songs, making a palette and just going for it. Further, despite the fact that she cannot actually breakdance, she used it as her center point in stark white and black to express her real love for the art form and the joy it brings. Throughout the rest of the piece, enjoy examining the bright colors, reading a little about Dahn Bi herself and of course, falling in love with all the little doodles.Ìý

Doodler’s Apartments
Oftentimes in class, at work or in any monotone situation, people doodle. However, only a few find it a necessity. It’s a home, being able to draw freely just odd little things. This piece displays the cumulation of Chong’s imagination into one large doodle. Each building is unique though they all follow similar motifs. For example, the flat base colors or the winding golden pipes. To Chong, these buildings carry all the fun, silly thoughts that people are able to draw into little characters, weird animals or just squiggly lines. If one were to look closely there are fun details at every turn and maybe one can even find where they’d like to stay in any doodler’s apartment.ÌýStudent Arts Program official selection 2023.ÌýLocated on the first floor, near The Connection.
